This research group will be focused on the identification of new molecular alterations potentially involved in the genesis of chronic myeloproliferative diseases. The laboratory represents the "core lab" that will perform DNA sequencing, genotyping and RNA expression analysis on biological samples collected by the AGIMM clinical units from patients affected by Polycythemia Vera, Essential Thrombocytemia, Primary Myelofibrosis and Secondary Myelofibrosis following Polycythemia Vera or Essential Thrombocytemia.
Data analysis will be carried out in collaboration with the bioinformatics team of the Biology Department of the University of Padua directed by Dr. S. Bortoluzzi. New generation softwares will allow the integration of data obtained from DNA sequencing, genotyping and gene expression profiling. This integrative analysis, together with validation experiments performed in vitro and in vivo, will allow the identification of new molecular abnormalities involved in the genesis of chronic myeloproliferative diseases that could lead to the development of new therapeutic strategies.
